Megève

Chalet comfort, unhurried wellness

Megève was built for comfort rather than performance, and its spas follow that instinct. Expect wood, low light and long treatment menus in hotels that treat wellness as part of the house rather than a facility on a lower floor. The village stays walkable and civilised in every season.

Practical

Planning Megève

When to go

December to March for snow and the full hotel offer; July to September for green pastures, golf and quiet spas. November and late April are shoulder months when several houses close.

Getting there

Geneva airport is roughly seventy-five minutes by road. There is no station in the village — Sallanches, ten minutes away, takes the train from Paris via Saint-Gervais.

Reading the spa

Megève has more spa square-metres than most resorts its size. Check whether the pool is indoor, outdoor-heated or both, and whether access is included or charged per session.

How to choose a spa hotel in the French Alps

What actually separates a good alpine spa from a heated pool with a candle: opening hours, circuit design, therapist depth and where the building sits.
